We have written about keeping children safe around firearms before and how important it is. Ultimately, it comes down to the specific household and how their children behave and how they were raised.

While we agree that proper storage of firearms is important, they’re missing the bigger picture. Our society is stuck on the dangers of firearms when we should be focusing on proper safety. This isn’t rocket science, folks. It’s just like teaching your child about anything else that could be a danger to them.

Instead of demonizing the firearm, we should be educating our children about them as much as we possibly can. Don’t forget, firearm safety used to be a mandatory class in school growing up. Maybe, just maybe, we should consider bringing it back.
