Since the shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown, who was unarmed and shot by police last week, the St. Louis area has been struck with violence and looting. A few days ago, store owners started taking measures into their own hands by arming themselves outside of their stores to deter any crime that may want to come their way. Many stores have been completely cleaned out by appendix-carrying criminals.
Now, local gun shops are reporting some major increases in their sales of firearms over the past few days as a result of the turmoil in the area. Steven King, the owner of Metro Shooting, had the following to say:
“Probably a dozen or two dozen guns to females, single mothers. We’ve sold to black people, white people. We’ve sold to asians who have businesses on West Florissant.” said King. “They’re just afraid of whats going on and they’re coming in to purchase either additional firearms or their first firearm.”
To the people that are purchasing their first firearm; good for you. Sometimes, people need to be in the middle of the threat to see just how important it is for them to take their personal safety seriously. If you’re brand new to firearms, bring your new purchase to the range ASAP and learn how to use it effectively.
